Citation Needed hosted a series of four process-based art workshops as a reprieve during NY State Standardized testing. Each workshop featured the exploration of a new medium including: mixed media, watercolor, printmaking, collage. All artistic experiments were performed on top of copies of the State Test. Through conversation and drawing, children shared their joys, their feelings about standardized testing, and “what is inside their brains.” Over forty children participated in this free series and received a copy of the publication.

This project was supported by Queens Library Foundation, NYFA’s Queens Arts Fund Grant, and Flushing Town Hall’s Artist in Queens Grant.
